Smart phones in health Care

The use of smart phones in health care

Mobile phones are progressively prospected as handheld computers rather than as phones, owing to their computing capability, expansive memories, generously proportioned screens and open operating systems which encourage application development. Healthcares, smartphone applications (apps), include developing trends and market uptake. (Boulos, wheeler, Tavares & Jones, 2011)
The platforms under which they are available include Android, Apple iOS, RIM BlackBerry, Symbian, and Windows (Windows Mobile 6.x and the emerging Windows Phone 7 platform).App recipients are laypersons or patients and healthcare professionals in different areas e.g., health, fitness and lifestyle, education and management; ambient assisted living ; continuing professional education tools; and  public health surveillance. Among these apps are those assisting in the management of chronic diseases, whether as standalone apps or part of a Body Area Network and remote server configuration? (Boulos, wheeler, Tavares &Jones, 2011)
The latest development in Smartphone apps is the eCAALYX (Enhanced Complete Ambient Assisted Living Experiment, 2009-2012), which is an EU-funded project for older people with multiple chronic conditions. The eCAALYX Android Smartphone app receives input from a patient-wearable smart garment with wireless health sensors and the Global Positioning System .Then the smart phone sensor locates and   transmits it over the Internet with a remote server accessed by healthcare professionals who monitor and manage older patients with multiple chronic conditions. (Boulos, wheeler, Tava res & Jones, 2011)

Biography

My name is Michaelina Shanna Alexander-Phillip. Hailing from, the majestic Island of the twin peaks, St.lucia. I reside in the northern part of this breath taking beauty of an aisle. I am a wife of a very supportive man, a mother of a brilliant little girl and the forth of six children. Family is one of many things I consider sacred.

At the tender age of five, my decision to become a nurse was made .At the time I could not explain my reason, but I knew I had this passion to provide care to individuals. Picture this skinny, bushy haired, brown eyed, snargled tooth little girl attempting to attend to a wound .Funny Huh!

I began making strides to ensure my dream became a reality by first attending The Corinth Secondary school .Where I selected my cxc subjects to suite the profession that I so heartily desired .It took me a little while to achieve this feat, however I returned to the drawing board and through the grace of god, secured a position in nursing school. I attended the sir Arthur Lewis Community College and three years later graduated with an Associate Degree in General nursing .There after became a Registered nurse through what I considered to be such a great struggle. “Hooray “! I made it.

I had not always followed the path assigned to me, for I fell many times but after accepting Jesus Christ as my lord and savior .I felt true fulfillment, for now I am a proud Christian .The bible says seek ye first the kingdom of god and all his righteousness and everything be added onto you .He has added four years of experience, functioning in the capacity of an intensive care nurse. I look forward to many more years in the service of caring for patients and living for Christ.
