Admittedly I
was elated to have commenced, higher learning activities to attain my BSC. In
nursing and nursing informatics was to be a stepping stone to that achievement.
My excitement was punctured by the
harsh reality that suddenly stood before me. I will admit I may have been a
little naive to believe that informatics would be glitch free. But it was not,
for assignments was given speedily and collected in very much the same way. I
suddenly got grades I was ashamed of, for the first time in my life, due to the
production of mediocrity? There was never enough time to complete and submit
assignments.
Informatics did also have its pros; I
learned how to create brochures, PowerPoint presentations, excel documents, pie
charts, and curriculum vitas. I learnt how to create a blog, twitter account, a
link in account and an e-portfolio. These all aid in marketing me as a
professional I am truly grateful.
I learnt harsh lessons for not citing
and referencing the work of others appropriately; for it is considered plagiarism.
The technologies used in nursing was one I never thought too much about,
however they have a great impact on health care improvement. What I considered
to be a computer had to be reconfigured in my head ,for they were not only
those bulky things on the desks known as desk tops ,they were cell phones and other every day equipment used in
hospitals which are taken for granted .Although there are many positives about
computers there are as many negatives
also.
